In this workshop, Debbie will guide you through the macrame knotting techniques required to create a beautiful and useful string bag. Using a combination of patterned and plain t-shirt yarn, you will learn three of the most popular macrame knots, giving you enough macrame know how to go on and create other macrame items such as wall hangings and pot holders. All materials are provided and you will leave with a bag 'made by you' to show off to your friends.
Do you want to learn to drop spindle and create your own yarn? We will cover everything you need to know to get started on your spindle, help you find the way that works best for you and get you as excited about spinning as we are!
You can bring your own spindle, or “try before you buy” from our range of in-house spindles, we’ll provide fibre for you to play with and you’ll get a handy print out with key tips and tricks to keep you right once you’re practicing back at home.
Using a beautifully soft ,loopy yarn, you will create an impressive scarf literally by hand. Jules will guide you through this beginner technique which allows you to knit without needles. So if you are needle-phobic this is definitely the class for you. Instructions and yarn for the project will be provided.
Jules will introduce you to this interesting craft technique. Using an open weave canvas and a mixture of fabric and yarn you will create a new woven fabric. This sturdy fabric can then be used to make many different items such as placemats, trivets, hotpads, mug rugs, wall hangings, bags -the list is endless. Jules will provide the special hooking tool you will need along with canvas and a variety of textiles to create your unique pieces. No prior knowledge is needed. Instructions are included
Learn this amazing knitting technique to create a wonderfully squishy fabric. We’ll cover the basics of the two-colour brioche stitch and the terminology. We’ll also explore a brioche increase and two simple decreases to create geometric shapes in your brioche swatch.
In this workshop, Debbie will take you through the coiling techniques needed to make a small textile basket. You will learn to start a coil, build, change colours, shape and finish. All the techniques can then be applied to making bigger baskets. All materials are supplied and you will leave with a small basket made by your own hands.

Jules will guide you through using the mini Punch needle tool to create your very own unique hanging ornament. You will learn the basic punch needle techniques to get you started as well as construction and finishing techniques. Jules has created unique templates to inspire you and she will also encourage you to explore your own design creativity too. All yarn and embellishments provided colours and textures may vary. Written instructions and an ideas sheet will be provided for further inspiration and should the project need to be completed at home -warning this hobby can be addictive! Not suitable for under 16’s due the use of sharp tools.
In this workshop, you’ll explore the unique structure of a true Moebius ring, where the knitting grows from the centre outwards, and discover how this technique can be used to make wonderful neckwear and more. You’ll also learn two Moebius cast on methods and create a simple headband.
Ideal for a complete beginner, learn about Tunisian Crochet, learning the foundation chain, simple stitch and Tunisian End Stitch. Participants will make a small coaster sized swatch. Hooks will be provided for the class (to be returned at the end of the session) and also a mini skein of hand dyed yarn worth £5. Cost is £30 and takes 1 hour.
Take the weight off your feet and join us in our cosy craft corner in the main exhibitor area. Bring along your knitting, crochet, spinning, weaving, needle felting or any other project, and enjoy a cuppa, a biscuit and plenty of friendly conversation. It’s the perfect place to rest your feet, chat with friends, meet other makers and think over your purchases. We’ll be there from 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday, offering help, advice and a ball winding service. There’s no need to book, just find a seat, make a brew, settle in and make a donation towards refreshments if you can. Come for a short break or stay a while and enjoy the warm, welcoming company of fellow crafters.
